These past couple years have been a hell of a rollercoaster ride for fans of the DC Extended Universe. Among all the drama, twists and turns, and the like, was Flashpoint, a film that started off a standard Flash film from Seth Grahame-Smith, and later from Rick Famuyiwa.
Things have changed since then, and Famuyiwa is no longer attached, but if you were still hoping to check out a superhero film from the Dope director, then you’ll be getting that chance. Deadline is reporting that Netflix has ordered a film Past Midnight, which is being billed as a vigilante superhero film.
The film is written by the Ratchet and Clank writer T.J. Fixman (hm…) and will be directed by Famuyiwa. Perhaps even more exciting is that the streaming service hopes to sign Keanu Reeves to star in the movie, which could be a good fit, considering Reeves is clearly still in action movie shape, thanks to the John Wick films.
Most of this news sounds promising, though admittedly the one that throws me off is Fixman, whose Ratchet and Clank film I kind of hated. That being said, he has sold a film project called One Night on the Hudson, and it’s set to be directed by Seth Gordon, so perhaps that film was just a case of being restricted to the brand of a franchise.
