According to Variety, Universal Pictures is in negotiations with the writing team Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel to pen a followup sequel to â€œBruce Almighty.â€
Paul and Mogel previously wrote scripts to â€œHot Tube Time Machineâ€ and â€œYes Men.â€
The trade paper also indicated the sequel will be developed for actor Jim Carrey to return for the sequel.
In the 2003â€™s â€œBruce Almightyâ€ film, a news reporter was given a chance to be God for a week. The film grossed over $242 million domestically in theaters and over $500 million worldwide.
In 2007, â€œEvan Almightyâ€ was an indirect sequel to the film that starred Steve Carell.
Director Tom Shadyac directed both films, but no word on whether Universal Pictures has plans for Shadyac to direct a third film.
