Elizabeth Olsen May Be Female Lead in Spike Lee’s ‘Old Boy’

Spike Lee has a problem attracting some stars for his “Old Boy” remake. So hopefully the third time is the charm.

Twitch blog has reported the female lead was offered to “Martha Marcy May Marlene” actress Elizabeth Olsen.

Actresses Rooney Mara and Mia Wasikowska were previously offered the female lead and both rejected the offer. Now we wait and see if Olsen accepts the role or Spike Lee is going back to look for a new star.

The film locked in Josh Brolin for the male lead. However, several actors passed on the villain role lately including Christian Bale, Colin Firth and Clive Owen.

“Old Boy” is the remake of 2003 South Korean film directed by Park Chan-wook. It is based on a Japanese manga about a man who was locked in a hotel room for 15 years without knowing his kidnappers’ intentions. Once freed, he goes on a quest for revenge and falls in love with an attractive woman.

Olsen will be appearing in the upcoming thriller “The Silent House” next week.
