‘The Hunger Games’ is Back for a Second Serving in Weekend Box Office

The competitors still fail to eliminate “The Hunger Games” from the weekend box office title.

Warner Brother’s sequel “Wrath of the Titans” and Relativity Media’s Snow White movie “Mirror Mi”ror” did not unseat last week’s weekend box office winner.

“The Hunger Games” earned $61.1 million, a decrease of 59.9 percent from the previous weekend. The total gross has crossed the $250 million mark this weekend after its second week of release.

In second place, “Wrath of the Titans” grossed over $34.2 million in its opening weekend. It is the sequel to 2010’s “Clash of the Titans,” and starred Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Rosamund Pike and Edgar Ramirez. It continues the adventures of Perseus as wanders the underworld to rescue his father Zeus.

“Mirror Mirror” opened in third place with $19 million. It is the first of two Snow White movies this year starred Julia Roberts, Lily Collins and Armie Hammer.

For next weekend, comedy “American Reunion” makes its way to the theaters as it reunites the original “American Pie” cast. And the James Cameron epic film “Titanic” will be released for theaters in 3D. Other films opening in limited theaters include “Damsels in Distress,” “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope,” and “ATM.”
