‘Chronicle’ Director Josh Trank to Helm ‘Shadow of the Colossus’

Sony Pictures signed “Chronicle” director Josh Trank to adapt the best-selling Sony video game “Shadow of the Colossus” on to the big screen.

The studio is currently seeking out writers to work with Trank on the project. It will be produced by Kevin Misher.

The game storyline is about Wander, a young man who entered into a forbidden land. He must defeat sixteen massive beings, or known as colossi, so that he could restore the life of a girl named Mono.

The video game industry praised “Shadow of the Colossus” for the art due to its minimalist landscape designs and emotional journey.  It was released in Japan as “Wander to Kyozo.”

Trank directed the surprise hit “Chronicle” earlier this year, which earned over $64 million domestically on a $12 million budgeted film.

According to Deadline, he is also currently developing “Fantastic Four” reboot for Twentieth Century Fox and “Spider-Man” spin-off film “Venom” for Sony Pictures. He may also adapt comic book “Red Star” for Warner Brothers Pictures.
