Hopefully, that’s not a dibbuk coming out of that woman’s throat.

Lionsgate and Ghost House Pictures released the official poster for “The Possession.”

The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Watchmen”) and Kyra Sedgick (“The Closer”).

Here is the official synopsis:

Based on a true story, THE POSSESSION is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil.

Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

The film is based on a truestory about cursed “haunted Jewish win cabinet box” that plagued several owners with rotten luck and a paranormal stunts. The box was sold on eBay and it was haunted by a Yiddish folk tale spirit creature called a dibbuk. A dibbuk is a spirit that enters the body of living people.

“The Possession” is directed by Ole Bornedal (“Nightwatch”).

The horror film will be in theaters on August 31.
