Joey Mazzarino Hired to Write Script for ‘Sesame Street’ Movie

Twentieth Century Fox has hired Joey Mazzarino to write a movie script adaptation of the PBS children’s show “Sesame Street.”

Mazzarino was a writer for the TV show from 1998 to 2007. He also wrote afew other children movies such as “Elmo’s Animal Adventures,” “The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland,” and “Muppets from Space.”

“Sesame Street” featured several of Jim Henson creations including Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Grover, Elmo and the Cookie Monster. The show won 138 Emmys during its television run.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sesame Workshop (formerly known as Children’s Television Workshop) will likely to be in a producer capacity for the project.
