Jena Malone Chosen to Play Johanna Mason in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Actress Jena Malone was chosen to play the coveted Johanna Mason in the upcoming sequel “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

She was chosen over a potential of actress-model Zoe Aggeliki, which some reports had actress as the next Mason.

Malone will play the ax-wielding previous Hunger Games winner from District 7. She will align with Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark for an all-stars death match. Her character is known in the Suzanne Collins novel for several one-liners and stripping out of her tribute uniform in front of Katniss.

Malone is known for her roles in “Contact,” “Into the Wild,” Pride & Prejudice” and last year’s “Sucker Punch.”

All the actors, including Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, will return to reprise their roles. The movie production is expected to begin in late September.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will be released next year on November 22nd.
