WonderCon 2013: Director Adam Wingard and Writer Simon Barrett Talks about Horror Movie ‘You’re Next’

NEXTLionsgate recently released the long awaited trailer for the horror movie “You’re Next” this week. And it looks scary.

Latino-Review caught up with the film’s director Adam Wingard and the screenwriter Simon Barrett on the convention floor of WonderCon 2013 in Anaheim today. They were signing autographs at the Magnolia Pictures booth.

Wingard and Barrett worked on a few horror projects together in the past couple of years, including “V/H/S,” “The ABCs of Death,” and the upcoming sequel “V/H/S/2.”

The pair shared a bit more information about “You’re Next” to Latino-Review exclusively.

“It’s about a family that gets together for a reunion and they haven’t seen each other in a while,” described Barrett. “It’s a big family. [There are] the mother, father, three brothers and a daughter. They all bring in their significant others. While they’re sitting down for dinner—people attacked the house. It’s about them not only to figure out how to stop them while it’s happening.”

Although the trailer looked like a regular thriller movie, Barrett reminded that it’s definitely a horror movie.

“It’s essentially a home invasion slasher kind of thing,” added Wingard.

It is a bit different from on what they worked on before with the horror shorts.

“We were trying to do something kind of different,” added Barrett.

“You’re Next” is scheduled for release into theaters on August 23. Click here for the jump to the trailer.

The exclusive full interview  with Wingard and Barrett will be published at the end of this weekend.
