“G.I. Joe: Retaliation†opened with the second-biggest Easter weekend box office with more than $41.2 million, behind 2010’s “Clash of the Titans†with $61.2 million.
However, what’s more impressive is raking in $80 million overseas—so whoever at Paramount decided to delay the film by nine months for 3D conversion looks like a genius now.
According to Variety, their sources have confirmed the third installment will move forward. Probably this time, it will be filmed in 3D rather than a post-conversion.
In a previous conversation with Latino-Review last week with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, they already have ideas and a wish list of characters for “G.I. Joe 3.â€
So will some dead Joes be back?
“Maybe,†said Reese. “Storm Shadow kind of died in the first movie. So we brought him back. You can’t be entirely sure if someone is dead and gone.â€
He continued, “The nice thing about G.I. Joe is that there’s a treasure trove of characters to choose from. We’re already putting our heads together on who it might be if we’re so lucky to make a third one.â€
Wernick then interjected, “We would love to bring back theBaroness.â€
“And maybe the twins,†added Reese. May be in reference to Tomax and Xamot, Crimson Guard Commanders.
Well, knowing is half the battle. Are there any G.I. Joe characters on your wish list for the third installment?
