Colin Firth may have a young spy partner in Taron Egerton.
According to Variety, negotiations may begin soon with Egerton to play the young spy next to Firth in the upcoming adaptation of “The Secret Service.â€
The site claimed director Matthew Vaughn considered “Kick-Ass†actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but opted for a lesser known actor to be alongside Firth. Other actors in consideration were Jack O’Connell (“Unbrokenâ€) and John Boyega (“Attack the Blockâ€).
Egerton has a very limited acting history with a couple of episodes in the TV series “Inspector Lewis†and a short film called “Pop.â€
Now Vaughn and Twentieth Century Fox will look into the female co-star. The possibilities include Emma Watson (“Harry Potterâ€) and Bella Heathcote (“Dark Shadowsâ€). Actors Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio were both offered the villain role, but passed on the role.
“The Secret Service†is a comic series by Mark Millar and David Gibbons. Production is expected to start this fall.
