The “Stretch Armstrong” Storyboards You’ve Waited Your Whole Life To See

Stretch Armstrong-1A few weeks ago I reported that a film adaptation of Stretch Armstrong had been indefinitely scrapped. This, after it had been in some form of production for almost 20 years. The project had taken many twists and turns over the years, switching genres, directors, and stars as studio execs tried feverishly to find the right take. When Relativity Media, the current holder of the film rights, dropped it from its slate I’m sure many hearts were broken. This could’ve been a classic on par with “Battleship,” and now we’re all just left to ponder about what might have been.

Well, io9 has posted what they suspect to be an animatic by Jim Rothwell and Collin Grant, based on the storyboards for one of the abandoned takes on the film. If this is true, it looks like it’s most likely from the version that would’ve starred Twilight’s Taylor Lautner and been a spy action film.

Watch it, and hopefully it will sooth your heavy heart. Maybe one day, folks, we will get a Stretch Armstrong movie. One day.
