Director Darren Aronofsky has taken to Twitter to announce that he’s added some more heft to the cast of his upcoming epic, Noah. The film will be a re-telling of the classic Bible story of Noah’s Ark, seen through the unique prism that is Aronofsky.

What’s notable here, though, is that the film opens in just about two months. It’s unclear if Nolte’s casting is for new scenes being added to the film, or if this was Aronofsky’s plan all along.
Nick Nolte joins a cast that is lead by Russell Crowe as the titular ark-builder, but also includes Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Anthony Hopkins, and Aronofy’s Requiem For A Dream star Jennifer Connelly.
This will be the first film from Aronofsky- the man who almost made Batman Year One and The Wolverine– since his widely acclaimed Black Swan in 2010. This take on the classic tale is said to be very fantastical, going for a darkly epic vibe.
“The Biblical Noah suffers visions of an apocalyptic deluge and takes measures to protect his family from the coming flood.“
Noah is set to sail into theaters on March 28, 2014.
