RUMOR: Josh Gad Is The Front-Runner For Grimm In ‘Fantastic Four’

Fantastic_fourThe rumor mill continues to churn out potential castings for Twentieth Century Fox’s upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four, even as no official word has confirmed a word of them. For months we’ve been hearing about Miles Teller (Reed Richards) and Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm). Now we can add another name to the list: Movies.com is reporting that Josh Gad may be the studio’s top contender to play Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

Gad just recently lent his voice to Olaf in Disney’s smash hit, Frozen, and now he may be the man to step into the role that Michael Chiklis played in the previous two Fantastic Four films. While some folks are all ready crying foul over the possibility, since he’s known more as the “lovable, chubby guy” type, it’s his relatable kindness that may work well for a more tragi-comic take on Grimm.

It should be noted that the film’s director, Josh Trank, has apparently all ready taken to Twitter to debunk this rumor. But, from personal experience, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not true. Sometimes it just means that they don’t want the possibility getting out there just yet, since that could interfere with negotiations. So, until official announcements are made, take this with a grain of salt.

Despite no word on casting, The Fantastic Four is set for a June 19, 2015 release.

Sound off, fanboys. If Gad does land the part, how would you feel?
