CTU is reeling from the attack on the facility. Not only has Jadalla been freed but John has been captured and the van carrying them has yet to be located. Eric enters the main floor of the facility and comforts Rebecca. Eric then asks to speak to Jennifer, the woman he saved from the vest bomb, to see what intel she may have that can help them. Rebecca agrees, then calls Henry to inform him that due to his actions, John has been captured by the very terrorists he protected.
Henry, stricken by the information that his son is in terrorist hands, tells Rebecca that Luis is responsible for the terrorist connection. Rebecca tells Henry that CTU will send a unit over for him. Henry tells Rebecca he’s sorry before ending the call and heading downstairs. He confronts Luis, telling him that John is being held hostage by the terrorists he assisted. Luis tries to flee, but Henry tries to contain him. After a struggle, Luis knocks Henry across the head with a pot and runs out of the house.
Naseri’s van pulls off to the side of the road where another van is parked. Jadalla exits the vehicle to see who Naseri is meeting with. To his surprise, Jadalla sees the disfigured face of his father, Ibrahim bin-Khalid. Naseri had kept his surviving of the attack a secret in order for Ibrahim to witness the dedication of his son. With the two united, they move on to the next step. Jadalla contacts Rebecca through an encrypted call and states that they will release John… If Rebecca hands herself over to them.
After attempting to get information out of Jennifer and handing the duties over to Andy, Eric meets with Nicole, who reveals that she found Rebecca’s letter to him offering a CTU job. The two argue over whether Eric is committed to their relationship or to being out in the field. Before a definite answer can be given, Rebecca interrupts and states she needs to speak with Eric. Once alone, Rebecca explains her conflict and comes up with the plan of presenting herself as bait. Eric agrees to the plan… then asks for access to the CTU Armory.
Desperate, John seeks a way to break free and goes through with it, only to be tackled to the ground and recaptured. Back at CTU, Andy is able to get some information out of Jennifer, including an Arabic phrase he doesn’t understand, and passes it on to another tech. Andy is then approached by Keith and asked where Rebecca and Eric are. When Andy has no clue, while also learning that weapons are missing from the armory, Keith decides to contact the only person he can think of who can make contact with Rebecca: Tony Almeida.
Tony, preparing to leave, answers the call from CTU. He is informed that John has been taken hostage and Rebecca is being ordered to turn herself in. Tony explains how his and her phones are built with a special GPS device that can be used to ping her phone. Keith briefs the Director of National Intelligence, who demands that Rebecca be brought in before making contact with Jadalla. Within minutes, a police car has located Eric and Rebecca and chases them down. Through some quick turns and a concealed bail out of the truck, they are able to stop, disarm and neutralize the threat, handcuffing the officers around a parking pilar. From here, Rebecca heads in by vehicle while Eric heads in on foot.
Rebecca enters the main grounds of an abandoned stadium while Eric quietly scopes out the surrounding areas, gun drawn. Jadalla calls her and demands she walk out to the center of the field, but she won’t do it until John is freed. After a back and forth and bluff called, John is eventually freed from his shackles and allowed to leave. Rebecca then decides to go to center field to draw them out; she wants them dead. Standing at center field, Rebecca notices that the field has been doused in gasoline. She sees Jadalla, who demands that she read a prepared confession. She says no. Jadalla lights a flare and tries to threaten her, but no change. Eric eventually snipes and kills Jadalla from far away, but not before Jadalla drops the lit torch, causing Rebecca to run as fast she can off the field. Eric, taking on gun fire, fires back and tries to rescue Rebecca by heading down to the field.
Eric contacts CTU as he looks for Rebecca on the field. While he can’t locate her, he can hear her on his Comms. He listens closely and hears from Rebecca the words that stops him in his tracks: “Ibrahim bin-Khalid is alive.”
To add to that, Andy discovers that the Arabic phrase is actually tied to a secret computer file. One that seems to be tied to the Director of National Intelligence.
And the clock ticks down to 10:00pm…
