Some zip codes are more coveted than others. There must be a certain pedigree or prestige associated with “Beverly Hills” and 90210. I know the original series was like junk food back in the day. It was like jamming a lollipop into your arm and mainlining all that candy-coated Los Angeles shallowly goodness which was too far away from home. It was Entourage before Entourage. Good news for an audience more accustomed to the ala carte system of television we have today. There is a revival in the works. So, a new generation glued to cell phones and social media will get to see why original fans of the series fell in love with the Jason Priestly, Ian Ziering, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris, Tori Spelling, and Brian Austin Green.

The series has been picked up by Fox with an initial order for six episodes. Also, the series is dropping “Beverly Hills” from the title, and will instead be called simply 90210. Viewers will get reintroduced to several original characters from the old 1990’s series. However, there will be a twist this time around that skirts on meta. Apparently, the series will start out as characters from the original cast all meet up after having gone their separate ways since the original ended. The catalyst for the reunion sparks when the characters decide it’s time for the world to revisit 90210. That’s certainly a dramatic way to reboot a TV series that may be more in line with the tastes of modern audiences. There should be plenty of drama to be had as the characters attempt to get a reboot of 90210 up and running.

90210 is set to air summer 2019 on Fox. Fox’s President of entertainment Michael Thorn commented “Beverly Hills, 90210’ left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation” and “Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA – bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters – and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for ‘90210.’”
