For decades, Pokémon has been able to entertain audiences through the popular series, video games, card game, movies, and apps. There seems to be a Pokémon for everyone. In every one of these versions, the Pokémon are always fighting each other. But what would happen if they got a chance to relax and chill out? That is what Netflix’s “Pokémon Concierge” aims to find out.
During Anime Expo 2023 in Los Angeles, Netflix showed off some behind-the-scenes footage of the filming of the stop-motion animated series that features the star voice actress, Rena Nounen, who voices Haru. She is a young girl that has just started working at the Pokémon resort. You can check it out below!
In the video, we see how Pokémon Concierge is brought to life with very detailed figures and props that give the character’s movement and personalities. With Haru for example, director Iku Ogawa, shared how Non’s facial expressions while recording her voice were filmed to help them as a reference when putting emotions on her character’s face.
Non also talked about how she felt a connection with Haru because of the process to animate the character. Throughout the video, you can see how much joy Non has to be able to see all the details in the Pokémon and props.
