A Quiet Place Sequel Pushed Forward Two Months

A Quiet Place was one of those unexpected low-key horror-thriller films that managed to really hit it big. Like films such as Get Out, it managed to explode past its genre audience into the mainstream thanks to the blend of its unique premise, tense performances, and strong direction from John Krasinski. What’s more is that it seemed like the kind of movie that wouldn’t necessarily lend itself to a sequel. Oh, how foolish we were to ever think that.

Of course, given the financial and critical success it was, Paramount was quick to push for one, and after some convincing from his wife and co-star Emily Blunt, Krasinski agreed to a sequel to his original film. The film was originally slated to hit theaters on May 15, 2020, but according to Variety, that has changed.

The outlet states that Paramount has pushed the A Quiet Place sequel to March 20, 2020 — so roughly two months earlier than its originally-scheduled spot. This seems to be as a result of the studio pushing back Sonic the Hedgehog, which left a vacant spot on November 8, 2019. They moved the family film Playing with Fire ahead from its March 20, 2020 spot, leaving that very spot open for A Quiet Place to fill.

We can also likely take this as a sign that development on A Quiet Place 2 seems to be going very well, with the original cast set to return, along with newcomer Cillian Murphy.
