According to a new report by Deadline, we’re getting a tale of two Robin’s as a Dynamic Duo animated movie is in development at DC. The movies will be made with puppetry animation and will serve as a new origin story for Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Of course, you likely know in the comics that the two were not the same age. Dick had already transitioned into Nightwing when Jason became Robin. Jason then went on a villainous tun to become Red Hood.
As per the trade;
‘Here’s a really cool project that just got greenlit at DC Studios and Warner Bros Pictures Animation: Dynamic Duo.’
‘It will mark the first joint project between DC Studios and the Bill Damaschke-led WBPA.’
‘The 6th & Idaho movie scripted by Matthew Aldrich is being made by a new animation studio out of New Orleans named Swaybox and that studio’s husband-and-wife creators Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson. Mintz will direct this movie, which follows the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd aka the Robins.’

Also from the report;
‘Note the storyline here isn’t connected to Matt Reeves’ Batman and The Penguin canon.’
So this is a standalone elseworlds type movie it seems.
DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran, Swaybox Studios’ Andersson and 6th and Idaho’s Reeves are producers on Dynamic Duo. Executive producers include Michael Uslan.
“I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream,” Reeves said.
I won’t say I’m excited about this one myself. Never much cared for Jason Todd as a character. However, it sounds like this is one probably not aimed at a middle-aged dude like me. Shocking, I know!
