In a sign of ever shrinking budgets in Hollywood actress Claudia Black explains why she won’t reprise her Ahsoka role in Season 2. Unfortunately, between travel to the UK and less money offered, Black rejected the chance to return in Season 2.
Black only had a small role in Ahsoka, that of Nightsister Klothow, who works with Thrawn. Speaking with BleedingCool, Black explained the situation, though she doesn’t blame anyone and understands how the industry is going right now.

“Well, I’m going to be transparent. They picked up season two, picked me up with it, and then Disney, which is structuring things differently these days, could not pay me what I needed to be paid as a single mother to keep all my responsibilities going at home in Los Angeles, because they were filming in London. It was not something that they could make happen, and therefore, I had to bow out for season two.”

You can see the issues, offering less money and instead of filming in LA, she’s have to go to England. Yet, streamers have to cut costs on their shows unless they are massive hits, which Ahsoka is not.
“They call it “show business” for a reason. It’s like 90 percent business and 10 percent show. They could not, sadly, support a single mom, and I’m very sad about that, but I also understand market forces being what they are, and the very delicate time in the business to even be able to afford to make anything at all. We all had to do our sums and move on.”
I’ve always liked Black as an actress but let’s be honest. It’s a waste to have her playing Klothow, who was so forgettable I actually had to remind myself what she did in the show. They can pick up someone cheaper in London and I doubt any fans will spot the difference, unless the role is given some depth in Season 2.
