Adam Driver Glad To Be Able To Discuss Star Wars Freely After The Rise Of Skywalker

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker is now just over a month from being released in theaters. The finale of the Skywalker Saga, and also the Disney sequel trilogy will of course once again heavily revolve around the character of Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren. Adam Driver has in my opinion, been the star performer of this sequel trilogy so far. I would definitely rate Driver as the best actor and the most exciting character to watch in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Driver himself has not really been able to speak that much about his portrayal of Kylo Ren though, because his story arc is so tightly kept under wraps.

When Driver is asked about Star Wars, which is usually all the time, he has to be very careful and vague with his answers, something he is not used to when discussing other roles he has played. Recently Driver did an interview in German, and this was translated to English, and then shared by the fan-owned Twitter account The Adam Driver Files. Anyway, Driver was asked if he was eager to be finished with Star Wars so that people will stop asking him about it and here was his response.

“I don’t expect that people will stop asking me about Star Wars, be it in interviews or in the street. But I am looking forward to being able to talk about these movies freely & without restraint for the first time in 6 years. I always had to be extremely tight-lipped”

I can completely empathize with that viewpoint, and Driver is absolutely correct that people are not going to suddenly stop asking him about Star Wars. I’m sure it will feel satisfying for the actor to be able to discuss his role in as much detail as he likes without any fear of the Lucasfilm snipers.

We don’t know what will happen to Kylo Ren in The Rise of Skywalker, but one must assume there will be some sort of redemption arc, or else why the need to bring back Emperor Palpatine for this final movie? Maybe that’s what we are supposed to think and they will pull the rug from under us in some way? Whatever happens with the character, I’ll always be glad Driver was cast as Ben Solo, despite me not being a big fan of these movies so far. If anything I wish they had focussed even more on Driver’s character than they did in either movie so far, hopefully, he will be a big point of view in this final movie.
