Adam Driver Not Out Completely As Reed Richards? | Barside Buzz

Despite some recent rumors to the contrary, the Star Wars Rey sequel is NOT cancelled!

Ah Fantastic Four casting news, I’m kinda sick of covering it. However, the latest piece of Barside Buzz is that Adam Driver is not out completely as a choice for Reed Richards. It should be said this story does go against the grain a little with what other insiders are hearing. As you know it was long rumored that Adam Driver was Marvel’s top choice for Reed Richards. However, reliable insider Jeff Sneider says Driver passed on the project after reading the script.

Yesterday we covered another rumor that Matt Smith was the most recent actor to be offered the role prior to the ongoing strikes. Yet, MTTSH says she has heard there is still a chance they move again for Driver after the strike.

As you can see the insider claims director Matt Shakman was keen on Driver, Robbie, Mescal and Diggs which you know were at one point the hit tips for the roles. However, as also said in her first post, they all passed on the roles. Some insiders have indicated at least some of those passes were for financial reasons, but we really don’t know that.

So… what happens if Smith says yes and river then changes his mind. Does Smith get the boot as it’s Driver the director wanted?

Look, I’ll cover these rumors because y’all like reading them. However, I’m very much ready to just wait for a official announcement which definitely won’t happen until the actors strike is finished. For me, there is too much uncertainty and every time someone makes a claim another Insider shoots it down. I can give you at least 2 names for each role that we have covered rumors saying they are the hot favorite and yet ask any Insider and they’ll tell you they’re not currently sure.

Hell, maybe Marvel Studios has favorites, but they don’t even know yet who the cast will be? It’s possible all four roles have still to be agreed after the strike.

Re-Related Section Post Above

Oh and as for a few comments regarding my article yesterday about Matt Smith.

No, I did not use ChapGPT to write for me. Instead, I had a PC issue which I could not quickly resolve. So, Mr. Shockey did me a solid and wrote it up for me. Shockey doesn’t normally cover the rumor mill, so yes, it didn’t read like me. However, it did read like one of his own articles. Maybe should have switched authors, but the main thing is we got the news out to you as quick as we could in a jam. There is no conspiracy here to see, just a small team of people dealing with life.

That being cleared up, I want to give my opinions on Matt Smith as Reed Richards.

I’m a fan! I know some people don’t feel he gives off the correct vibe for Reed, but I’ve seen Smith since he was just starting out and he’s a great actor. Take a look at his version of Doctor Who and compare it to his turn as Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Those roles are so polar opposite one another and he nails them both with equal measure. I know he was in Morbius, but so was Jared Leto. Morbius was toilet and actors gotta eat. Prior to House of the Dragon Smith hadn’t hit the big time in the US. So personally, I reckon he’d be a great Reed Richards in the MCU.

So, Barside Buzz is that Adam Driver is not out completely as a choice for Reed Richards. Do you even care about the Fantastic Four casting this point? Or like me are you ready to just wait for the official casting news when it happens? Let us know.
