One of Adult Swim’s space-age heroes is returning with a King Star King special.
King Star King is a modern He-Man that lives among the gods. But things get weird when he falls to Earth and find himself working as a fry cook in a run-down waffle house. To get back into the heavens King Star King has to defeat the evil Spring Bunny once in for all and rescue the love of his life Princess Snow White. In his journey back to the top he is joined by a strange group of “heroes” that includes Hank Waffles, Gurbles, and Pooza.
The original series debuted as a six-episode digital series in 2014 before airing on Adult Swim. Fans can catch up on the episodes on their website.
In this all-new special, King Star King is back, but not in the way that fans may remember him. He is now a middle-aged slob with a family. Not a waffle house family, a wife and kids family. He also has a mortgage and a job at Amazon. How did he get there? What is he doing there? Is this the end of King Star King as we know him? Check out the special and find out!

With the release of the special on Adult Swim, LRM Online‘s Manny Gomez spoke with the creator of the series, JJ Villard.
He is an award-winning creator that has worked in animation with Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Disney, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, and Netflix. His cult hit animated series won the network’s first Prime Time Emmy in animation.
In our conversation, JJ Villard talked about where his idea came from for the series and how this special for King Star King came to be. One of the most interesting things we talk about was the idea of him working in a waffle house, especially now with the latest perceptions of waffle houses.
Also, Villard talks about how he was able to use Jeff Bazos and Amazon as a villain. As well as some of the other famous people he hopes to put King Star King against in the future. The conversation was a lot of fun, you can check it out below!
The Adult Swim King Star King special will air at midnight on February 13 and the next day on HBO Max.
