Ahsoka Casts Mary Elizabeth Winstead In Undisclosed Role

Ahsoka casts Mary Elizabeth Winstead in an undisclosed role reports THR. Winstead is the fourth recent cast announcement for Ahsoka outside of the obvious titular role played by Rosario Dawson. Two of those casting’s we already know the characters, as that’s Hayden Christensen as Vader/Anakin and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. However both Ivanna Sakhno and now Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s roles are currently unknown. It was rumored that Sakhno could be playing a new character, but there’s no word from the trade on who Winstead may be playing in Ahsoka.

The fans of course have been speculating wildly over the weekend since this story broke. The current favorite I am seeing online is for Hera Syndulla. We have no idea, yet, whether Hera even appears in Ahsoka or not, so this is pure speculation from fans. Though, sometimes the wild speculation is the fun part isn’t it?

Truth is Winstead could be playing anything from a brand new role, to who knows what animated or other canon character?

The only thing I have ever heard about Hera coming to live-action was a story LRM heard before Rangers of the New Republic was seemingly indefinitely delayed or cancelled. After Gina Carrano’s exit, LRM was told there was an attempt to retool the show to focus on Hera instead. However that was ages ago, and since then we have heard nothing about this from elsewhere, nor our own sources. So my guess is that this simply did not work out. That makes Hera’s possible inclusion in Ahsoka neither more or less likely I’m afraid. Still, I’m just filling in the blanks from our end as much as we can.
