Ahsoka Star Ray Stevenson Passes Away At Only 58 Years Old

I know we are a bit late covering this one, but out of respect I’m running it anyway. It has now been confirmed that Ahsoka star Ray Stevenson has passed away whilst filming in location in Italy. Variety reports that Stevenson, who was only 58 years old, died on Sunday in Italy. No cause of death has yet been released to the public. However, we know Stevenson became ill and that his conditioned worsened quickly.

I’m sure regular readers of LRM will need no introduction to Stevenson as he touched on many geek properties over his career. Volstagg in the MCU, Punisher in the old Marvel movie, and most recently Stevens played Baylon in the upcoming Ahsoka series which is expected to premier this August. That only scratches the surface of the roles Stevenson has played over the years. I’m sure Stevenson first came to many views attention playing one of the lead roles in HBO’s Rome series. Star Wars fans will also know Stevenson did some voice work on The Clone Wars and Rebels as Gar Saxon also.

At 58, geez, that is so young, Stevenson was only 14 years my senior and that just seems far too soon.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Stevenson in Ahsoka and this new role of Baylon. All we have so far are trailers, but I liked Stevenson in general and the character is mysterious and powerful. It’s so sad to know that he is gone before we audiences even get the chance to see this one.

All our thoughts go out to Ray’s family, friends and colleagues. Many big names who have worked with Ray before have taken to social media to express their sadness and share memories. You will be missed Ray Stevenson.

Express any thoughts below on the sad passing of Ahsoka star Ray Stevenson at only 58 years old.
