It’s not quite Judgment Day yet. But rest assured as humans are hard at work empowering artificial intelligence with the tools it needs to transition into filmmaking and write its own perfect version of a hellish post-apocalyptic world. So far AI and its human conspirators “ahem” collaborators have mainly stuck to writing screenplays. Check out this excerpt from a script written by shelley.ai, who is an artificial intelligence “collaborating” with humans via the medium known as Twitter.
“I was literally shaking from the fire. I tried to scream, but couldn’t find my voice. As I stared at the flames, the fire grew darker and darker as the fire grew brighter.”
Dark stuff, would you agree? You can visit THEIR WEBSITE to read more of its writings and find out how you can help her learn to craft more killer tales. The day is on the horizon in which screenplays will be written entirely by artificial intelligence. Wait, that happened back in 2016? Indeed it did. Have you heard of the short film “Sunspring”? It was written entirely by AI and released via the technological website Ars Technica on June 9, 2016. The film was directed by Oscar Sharp who is signed on to direct Wooly for Twentieth Century Fox and starred Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch. You can check that out below.
Most recently, AI has been employed by Scriptbook. The Belgium company describes themselves as specializing in Artificial intelligent screenplay analysis & box office forecasts. What that means is they will use AI to analyze your screenplay and tell you not only what demographics it will attract, but also assess the profitability of the potential movie. You can check out our interview with the founder Nadira Azermai below.
In fact, this story, came from Storybook’s very own blog, as they have quite a vested interest in the use of technology to assist in telling stories. But, of course, things aren’t perfect yet. Recently, the AI was fed a Kill Bill theme for a Harry Potter story. Read on to see what badassery it churned out.
“Dumledore flies toward his window in the snow to get out his sword. Slicing at the flickering blades, tearing the door open.” And “Back to the assassinated soldier. Harry turns, runs and explodes through the flames in front of the enemy informant”.
What do you think? Will AI take over Hollywood?
