The Synopsis
RARE OBJECTS is a story about friendship that centers around a young woman (Julia Mayorga, “American Rust”) who reclaims her own sense of self through her journey of self-discovery that involves a new job, new friends and healing.

The actor, Alan Cumming started his career in theater in his native Scotland. And has continued performing in theater since then. Cummings debut on screen was in a short film in 1986 in Passing Glory. However, his main recognition came in 1992 in Prague. Cummings first US film was in 1997 in Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion with Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow. He is now known for other projects like GoldenEye, The Anniversary Party, X2: X-Men United and Son of the Mark. This year he was seen in the second season of Apple TV+ Schmigadoon!

Derek Alan joined the entertainment industry over twenty years ago. After starting on the small screen he made his debut in Denzel Washingston’s film as a director and protagonist, Antwone Fisher. Alan has done other projects like Spartan, Friday Night Lights, Glory Road and Captain America: The First Avenger. Earlier this year he was seen on Disney+ basketball film, The Crossover.
I had the opportunity to speak with Alan Cumming and Derek Luke via Zoom to discuss their participation in Rare Objects. They both spoke highly about the script and Katie Holmes’ work as a filmmaker. In addition to getting to work together and the antique store they got to film and more!
