Fans of the “Alien” franchise have something new to look forward to as the trailer and poster for “Alien: Romulus” have been released. The latest addition to the iconic sci-fi/horror series is set to hit theaters nationwide on August 16, 2024.
“Alien: Romulus” promises to return to the franchise’s roots, delivering the intense thrills and chills that have made the series legendary. The story follows a group of young space colonizers who encounter the universe’s most terrifying life form while scavenging a derelict space station.
The film features a large cast, including Cailee Spaeny (“Civil War”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), and newcomer Aileen Wu.

Directed by Fede Alvarez, known for his work on “Evil Dead” and “Don’t Breathe,” the movie’s screenplay is a collaboration between Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, both of whom have previously worked together on “Don’t Breathe 2.” The script is based on characters originally created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
The production team boasts some heavy hitters, with Ridley Scott, the director of the original “Alien” and a producer/director of “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” at the helm. Scott is joined by producers Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”) and Walter Hill (“Alien”). Executive producers include Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”).
“Alien: Romulus” aims to deliver a spine-tingling experience that both honors the legacy of the franchise and introduces a new chapter of terror in space.
