Cold Iron Studios has today released the Aliens: Fireteam reveal trailer. The studio has been working on the game for some years and this year it will finally release. We don’t get an exact date within the trailer below, but it won’t be too long. Check it out, coming sometime this Summer.
The game will take place around 20 years after the events of Aliens and Alien 3.
“This is the action game Aliens fans have been waiting for – hordes of different Xenomorphs swarming over ceilings and across walls, surrounding your team and striking from every angle,” said Craig Zinkievich, the head of Cold Iron Studios. “Work together, customize your character, utilize tons of weapons and gear and… well, you just might get your fireteam out alive.”

The game will see a fireteam of three players looking to survive waves of different Xenomorphs using one of five classes. Aliens: Fireteam will release for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox SeX, and PC. In fact my only concern with this game is how out of date it all might seems by having to work on the old gen consoles. Of course, right now, that is essential for game sales. I just worry it’s going to feel like a last gen game on not a current gen game. Whilst the footage in the trailer is Alpha build only, it doesn’t look visually amazing. Perhaps an upgraded version will hot for current gen, but no details on that here.
Fans of Alien: Isolation will wish they were getting a sequel instead of this. However Alien: Isolation, lauded as it was, wasn’t everyone’s bag, and it didn’t sell well. Aliens: Fireteam looks like good fun, first and foremost, but it’s early days. Gameplay is key, and until players get a hold of it, we won’t know how addictive and replayable it is. Will Aliens: Fireteam be the kind of game you play across a weekend with some friends and never touch again? Or could it be an excellent little game with offers a ton of replayability and new features?
