Many of us experienced the greatest nightmare of being trapped in one’s homes for days. For one woman in the horror film Alone With You, she was trapped in her apartment with no escape, but with someone sinister too.

The horror film stars Emily Bennett, Emma Myles, Dora Madison, and Barbara Crampton. The film is co-written and co-directed by Bennett and Justin Brooks.

Here is the long synopsis of Alone With You:

Charlie wants tonight to be perfect. After a tumultuous first year, she and Simon plan to spend a romantic anniversary night together in their Brooklyn apartment. But after a traumatic call with her estranged and homophobic mother, Charlie realizes she’s locked in her apartment and she’s not alone.

As the night progresses and Simone doesn’t return, Charlie slips in and out of memories as she fights to keep her grip on reality. But when a woman’s voice in the wall starts taunting Charlie, the darkness closes in. Charlie realizes her only hope is to cling to the truth or be swallowed up by the evil trying to overtake her and drive her completely mad.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with actress/co-writer/co-director Emily Bennett and co-writer/co-director on their indie horror movie. We talked about how nearly the entire production took place during the pandemic shutdown, filming other cast members remotely at their homes, and redecorating their own home to be more fitting for the movie.

Emily Bennett is an award-winning writer, director, and actor. Her feature screenplay ACHE was a quarter-finalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship in 2020. The short film LVRS screened at the Sitges, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, and won her the best director at the Horrible Imaginings Film Festival. The short film Bed was recently screened at the Fantasia Film Festival last year. Bennett was hired to direct the upcoming horror film The Vineyard with Daryl Freimark producing.

Justin Brooks is an award-winning filmmaker known for his short-form documentary films, narrative horror shorts, and commercial work. His work has been seen in Vice, Vogue, The History Channel, Vanity Fair, and Vox. The most recent short film Pains premiered on Gunpowder & Sky.

Alone With You is in select theaters today. It expands digitally, On Demand, and on DVD next Tuesday, February 8.
