I don’t know what the hell was going on in the gameplay demo for Horizon Forbidden West, but Aloy did not look like herself. Her face was swollen and her features seemed off. Like I covered in May, some thought it was her aging, but the time between Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West is six months. PlayStation tweeted an image of what Guerrilla has done with the design for Aloy and I like the new look.

Some people do have naturally round faces, but we already know what Aloy looked like and the gameplay from three months ago wasn’t it. Why blow up her face? The shape of her face looked pretty realistic in Zero Dawn. Hell, I have a higher BMI than Aloy and my face is thinner. I don’t think it was a way to get attention for the game, but I do wonder if Sonic the Hedgehog did that for their trailer.
I’m glad they made the change and I like the way she looks now with the new graphics. Aloy looks very natural. Although, with the whites of her eyes looking red, she looks like she has allergies. I guess they wanted to go all out on details. Aloy, of course, is always walking around and crouching in plants so it makes sense. I’m very satisfied with Aloy’s face change for Horizon Forbidden West. For my article on Aloy’s face from May, click HERE.
