In a recent interview The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Pedro Pascal reveals he almost went too far with his Reed Richards voice. Speaking with Vanity Fair about his career, Pascal explains that he almost took a new dialect he was playing with for Reed Richards too far. The crew had to ask him to tone it back a bit for filming.

“They had to keep on pulling me back from a very mid-Atlantic early 60s talk. They had a dialect coach who was going to help us into that kind of dialect.”

“I took to it so well, they had to pull me aside…they were like, ‘Uh, talk more like yourself.’ I had a hard time doing that because I was so into the era, which for me, was something to step into, as it’s different from what we’ve seen before. What they’ve created is something we haven’t seen.”

The alt-Universe retro setting is definitely unique and it got me interested from day one. Still, as great an idea as all this is, we still need the film within to be a good story. I do like the chemistry of the family from what little we see. However, I’ll judge as always when I see the finished product.

I can’t help feel slightly more drawn to Superman as the ‘fun ride’ of this Summer. However, I’m also secretly hoping Fantastic Four nails the tag as the ‘best’ of the Summers two big comic book contenders. It all depends on both finished films, and my taste. Let you know as soon as I can.
