Altered Carbon Season 2 Teaser – Will Anthony Mackie Usher In An Improved Story?

I’m still not sure how I feel about Altered Carbon. The world building (for a beginning) and the universe was pretty amazing in Season 1. I’m just not sure the story or performances were a match. The first few episodes of Season 1 had me sit up and take notice. By the end though, I was waiting for the inevitable and predictable conclusions to fall into place.I think my own imagination was going to places far wilder than the show actually ventured. Maybe that’s on me, but I am hoping Season 2 is an improvement.

As you can see from the latest teaser trailer above, Altered Carbon is back for Season 2 on February, 27th. You can also see that Season 2 will star Anthony Mackie of MCU fame. I don’t think Joel Kinnamon was the problem in Season 1 at all, though we always knew Takeshi would have a new skin this time. I had concerns about a lot of the supporting cast though, hopefully, that will iron itself out a little this time.

The official synopsis below, therefore, has me worried. Will this just be more of the same thing with a different actor? It kinda sounds like it and I am definitely looking for a new approach.

Season 2 of the sophisticated and compelling sci-fi drama finds Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry). After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs finds himself recruited back to his home planet of Harlan’s World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe (Chris Conner), Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?

I genuinely would happy to be proved wrong here, as I think this world, this setting, has huge potential. I just need the story to engage me as much as the universe does, and I’ll be tuning in and checking this out on February,27th.
