Amandla Stenberg Talks Conceptions Of The Force Being Explored In The Acolyte

Lead star Amandla Stenberg talks about how conceptions of the Force will be explored in The Acolyte in a recent interview with MagazineC. Stenberg has spoken publicly once or twice about The Acolyte so far. However, this interview whilst hardly revealing, feels like she is being slightly more open with some of the concepts being explored.

There’s also a line that I feel may be a clue as to a long standing rumor about The Acolyte. That rumor, is that Stenberg is playing two sisters, in other words, both lead roles. Now that is just a rumor for now, so take it with a pinch of salt. The line from Stenberg in question?

“I have a really, really heavy load in this show, an abnormal load,” which would possibly indicate the above rumor is true? Just saying. Don’t quote me, I read the same words you do.

Stenberg also went on to praise the crew for how hard working they were on the show.

“The crews are so hard core, they’re so hardworking, and it’s very kind of hierarchical and competitive, and people work their asses off,” she says. “It’s very different, I think, than what I’ve experienced on most American sets.”

Whilst not much, we did get a little more about the setting of this show, which is farther back than any live-action media has gone so far, officially anyway.

“In the context of the Star Wars universe, it’s a time of great peace, theoretically,” Stenberg says. “It’s also a time of an institution, and it’s a time in which conceptions around the Force are very strict. And I think what we’re trying to explore within our show is when an institution has a singular conception of how power can be used…we try to provide a lot of different perspectives and answers to that question. The idea is to kind of honor the ethos of Star Wars and ideas around the Force and also challenge them, hopefully harmoniously.”

Well, we don’t want everything to just be as it was in The Phantom Menace. The Acolyte should be the catalyst for the change from the High Republic era to the Fall of the Republic era. Supposedly set 100 years or so before the events of The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte should release this Summer. See related section above.

I’m happy to explore conceptions of the Force, especially if it’s crazy dogma from the Jedi or Sith. Let’s see how this one shapes up?

What do you think of Amandla Stenberg’s comments about The Acolyte? As always, thoughts below.
