Amazon Prime Video did a great job last year at promoting the first season of their original series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Their activation which we covered here on our site was amazing. It featured a fully immersive experience where you were put right in the middle of an action sequence thanks not only to VR but an entire area that even featured a drop from a helicopter and a zip-line, not to mention a really entertaining escape room. So what do they have in store for us this year? Well thanks to Amazon Prime video we now have our answers to that as well.
This year they will be focusing on three Amazon original series that will be featured on their streaming services these include The Boys, Carnival Row and the fourth season of The Expanse. This year’s activations will be taking place in a 60,000 square-foot area located across the street from the San Diego Convention Center located on the corner of MLK and 1st from Thursday July 18th through Sunday July 21st, with a special preview day day for press on Wednesday, July 17th. This will be a very easy to see as the area will have a forty foot tower that has giant LED screens playing scenes from the three series mentioned above. Attendees will also be treated to a live, show-specific performances that will take place on the top level of the tower.
When attendees make it inside, they will receive collectible gold and silver coins that can be used to further explore the activation. In the area dedicated to The Boys, fans can cover up a crime scene of a superhero kidnapping at the Audio Visual show where Hughie works. If your looking for something more out of this world, a Rocinate spaceship is positioned to take adventure seekers on a United Nations peacekeeping mission to a newly colonized planet seen in The Expanse. What about something a little more mystical? For that attendees can check out the Carnival Row universe where humans and exotic creatures coexist before entering The Forbidden Lounge, described as a neo-Victorian decorated hideaway venue, to enjoy a special performance.
All those activations may take a lot out of you, but no worries because Amazon has you covered with a tented awning with refreshing beverages and a selection of “bites” including Carl’s Jr. burgers as part of The Boys campaign. Onsite will also be a lifestyle photographer to take professional portraits as digital takeaways.
This looks like a great time! In case you cannot make it to San Diego for Comic-Con 50, LRMOnline will have a team there bringing you all the news as it drops! Including experiences from activations like the one described above! So make sure that you check in frequently.
San Diego Comic-Con takes place at the San Diego Convention Center on July 17th through the 21st.
