The horror anthology series AMERICAN HORROR STORY is gearing up to return for a sixth season, and- as such- they’ve released a 15 second teaser promo for it. Titled “The Mist,” with a log line that reads “Run,” it’s a downright creepy look at one of the creatures we’re going to meet in season six.
Or not…
More on how the AMERICAN HORROR STORY showrunners may be messing with us after the promo:
At the Television Critics Association press tour, FX CEO John Landgraf said that the network was being purposefully misleading with its promos so far. Past teases have includes a demon baby, a TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE-like house, and a lady with spider eyes.
“We just thought it would really be fun to keep it a mystery, so we are,” Landgraf said. “[Ryan Murphy and Stephanie Gibbons, FX head of marketing and on-air promotions] went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of ‘American Horror Story,’ meaning different genres and different places. And one of them is accurate, and the others are just misdirects.“
So it’s possible that this “The Mist” tease is just a misdirect.
We’ll see what happens when AMERICAN HORROR STORY returns on FX on September 14.
