While out promoting her new film, Big Eyes, Amy Adams has fielded a few questions about her role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The questions are unavoidable, of course, considering the anticipation and curiosity surrounding the project. Amongst the topics covered are just how much of a part Lois Lane plays in the story for Batman v Superman, and whether or not we should expect any kind of rivalry between her character and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in the film.
On the subject of Lois’s role, some have wondered how large a part she’ll have in a film with as many moving parts as Batman v Superman. She was fairly integral to the plot of Man of Steel, so what is Adams saying on the subject?
“Lois is still sort of like the key to the information, you know? She’s the girl going out and getting it and figuring it out and putting it together and all of that, so she’s very much involved, but I kind of leave the heavy lifting to the boys, you know? So to speak.”
Just how involved is Lois in “putting it all together”? Well, her next answer implies that she shares a scene with the film’s heavyweights.
“They’re awesome together. It’s kind of like this big fest of muscles … it was really kind of nice. And then you add Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot and I felt very short and, yeah.”
Speaking of Gadot, some have wondered if Wonder Woman would represent some competition for Superman’s affections. After all, Supes and WW recently became an item in DC’s New 52 comics. Might we see some of that play out in Batman v Superman?
“They always think that if you put in another woman and automatically… ‘Catfight!’ No, I think that’s a male fantasy thing. I don’t think that’s reality.” And she would also go on to say, “I don’t know how it will turn out, if we’re going to be competition, but we are not in this, I can safely say, and we’re not in real life. She’s just the coolest girl ever.“
In fact, it sounds like the two characters may not share much time together at all. When the subject came up of what it was like to suddenly have this super-sized cast of heroes, her response mentions that she and WW don’t have much to do with one another:
“It’s exciting to get to bring in all these other characters and I was really excited that Gal was involved, because it was a nice to have another girl on set, even if we don’t work together a lot, it was nice to have her there.”
Big Eyes, which is directed by Tim Burton, comes out on December 25.
