In a recent interview alongside Marvel boss Kevin Feige with NY Times, Sony’s Amy Pascal talks Spider-Man 4 ambitions. We know Pascal has already said Sony want another Tom Holland and Marvel led Spider-Man trilogy. Feige, whilst not confirming a deal did say this with regards to future plans.
“Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about-Yes, were actively beginning to develop where the story heads next. Which, I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after Far From Home.”
Which when matched with everyone else comments from both sides so far means, yes, we are getting more Spider-Man movies, but they don’t yet have a deal in place and will only announce those plans when they are finalized.
Pascal then went on to talk about what she and Feige’s ambitions for Spider-Man 4 are.
“Not every Spider-Man movie is going to be a multitude of characters. That approach was right for this one. You can’t think about topping yourself in terms of spectacle, otherwise movies just get larger and larger for no reason, and it’s not a good result. But we do want to always try and top ourselves in terms of quality and emotion.”
“Kevin [Feige] and I never want to lose sight of one thing: Peter Parker. That he’s a normal kid, that he is orphaned over and over again. That he’s a teenager, so everything in his life is at a heightened pitch and everything matters more than anything. He’s fueled by goodness and guilt. He’s striving for a greater cause, and he’s vilified by the press.”

I have to agree that after the spectacle of No Way Home I would personally love to see a much smaller scale movie next. Just Spider-Man dealing with his new life, where he’s not even an Avenger. Obviously there will be a villain and a threat Peter has to sort out, but it doesn’t have to have multiversal level effects. The character is all set up, it just need a good story. My own preference would be for Peter to meet new friend Harry Osborn in college. Find out about Norman Osborn in the MCU and decide to keep an eye on him simply because of the alt-version he met. I also think there could be drama to come with Ned still in Peter’s future.
What do you think of her comments as Amy Pascal talks Spider-Man 4 ambitions and Feige confirms talks are ongoing between Disney and Sony? Thoughts below as always.
