The Flash director Andy Muschietti coy when asked about Brave and the Bold plans for Batman. As you are probably aware, the Barside Buzz has Muschietti as the hot favorite to direct the first Batman film set in the new DCU. That movie is called The Brave and the Bold and whilst Muschietti has been tipped for it, there’s nothing official as yet.
Cue a slightly cheeky little question at The Flash from reporter Josh K. Elliot, see below. As you can see Muschietti was asked what he would do with Batman in a ‘Brave and Bold’ new direction?
“Ooh, that’s ah, I don’t think I can talk to that.”

Is this a smoking gun? Nope, however you’ve got to think Muschietti is currently the top choice for The Brave and Bold given how those who have seen The Flash are raving about his use of Batman. Also, it doesn’t hurt when the current bosses of DC, namely Peter Safran and James Gunn both think The Flash is a great movie.
I mean, that’s how it should be right? make good movies, get more opportunities. However, in Hollywood I often find that not to be the case. That once someone is in the game, they tend to keep getting work despite previous failures. That’s especially true on the writing side.

Of course there is still one massive big test for The Flash coming up, the release to us lot. You never know how a movie is truly going to go until the fans start relaying their experiences. We’ve seen lately how powerful positive word of mouth can be with superhero movies. So far The Flash has that where other DC movies have not. However, it remains to be seen whether that positive word of mouth carries on after full release.
The Flash looks good to me. If it is a great movie and the Batman sections are cool, then it sounds like Muschietti is the call. However, for now it seems, what we don’t have for The Brave and the Bold is a writer. There may be one, it’s just no one in the leaks community has heard a name attached as yet. That could well simply be because of the WGA strike going on though. One insider I trust, (BSL) says they’ve heard no names attached yet.

I guess we will just have to wait and see? Maybe once the strike has been resolved we will see an announcement by Gunn/Safran on who is developing The Brave and Bold for the DCU?
