So, despite some recent rumors, it is apparent that Andy Muschietti is still officially directing Batman: The Brave and Bold. There were some rumors that Muschietti had left the project, but not officially. However, the source for these rumors isn’t that great. John Rocha from The Hot Mic claimed some time ago he heard this, and then just yesterday backed that up to say he’s still hearing the same thing. However, it is worth noting, that Jeff Sneider, co-host of the show, and the one that has proven reliable insiders could not back Rocha up. In fact he seemed very doubtful of the information Rocha had received. Check the video in the link above and the time stamp is 01:26:50 for when Rocha says he still hears that same rumor.

Interestingly, that same day Deadline released an article exploring a new teaser for Penguin. In that article linked above, they state again that Muschietti is officially on board to direct The Brave and Bold for the DCU. Now, the trades would not say until agreed if this was not the case any longer. However, there’ simply not enough proven leakers backing Rocha up here. If it happens, he’ll be the only one gets the cred, if it doesn’t, then his cred takes a hit.

I guess there was some doubt crept in after the box office flop that was The Flash, directed by Muschietti. However, I’d say The Flash wasn’t that bad. Not a great Flash movie, but not a bad Batman movie all things considered. I also think fans already knew this franchise was dead when it hit and that Ezra Miller was not well liked in the lead role. Then add in all the many, many reshoots and likely studio interference and I’m not sure it’s easy to blame Muschietti for all the problems of that films performance.

Muschietti has proved a capable director in past movies. Hopefully with a script greenlit by James Gunn and Peter Safran, Muschietti will be given the tools to deliver. Guess we’ll find out soon enough when casting begins.
