While hard-hitting adult dramas aren’t what they used to be on the big screen (unless you’re an A-list director), Netflix seems to be making a killing off of it. Most of their content seems to be the dark, dramatic stuff that would have hit theaters in the past. And you know what? I’m totally okay with that. Better to see stuff like this in the comfort of my own home than in theater, where it costs more money.

One of the latest and more interesting flicks to nab a trailer is The Last Thing He Wanted. The film follows a journalist, played by Anne Hathaway, and seems like a tense thriller that would have been in theaters just a decade ago.

Below is the official synopsis for The Last Thing He Wanted:

“A veteran D.C. journalist (Academy Award® winner Anne Hathaway) loses the thread of her own narrative when a guilt-propelled errand for her father (Oscar® nominee Willem Dafoe) thrusts her from byline to unwitting subject in the very story she’s trying to break. Academy Award® nominee Dee Rees directs her adaptation of Joan Didion’s namesake novel, co-starring Oscar® winner Ben Affleck.”
