By now, we’re all well aware of the fact that all of Marvel’s Netflix shows are very closely connected. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist were all conceived in such a way as to mirror Marvel’s cinematic format. They’d all introduce heroes into a shared universe, and then eventually lead to a team-up event known as The Defenders. As such, we’ve been offered glimpses of this interconnectivity, with actors from Daredevil appear on Jessica Jones, and vice versa.
According to Luke Cage star Simone Missick, who’ll be playing Misty Knight in the upcoming series, the show’s titular hero won’t be the only character appearing in The Defenders. Missick says that she’ll be a part of the crossover event, too.
“I believe I’m safe to say that I will be on ‘The Defenders,‘” she told The Wrap. “Spoiler alert! If I lose my job because of this interview, sorry! I was supposed to be on ‘The Defenders,’ until I got fired.“
It should come as no real surprise since, in the comics, Misty Knight has some definite history with The Defenders. On the TV series Luke Cage, Knight will be a cop, but her comic backstory is rather interesting and there are some interesting possibilities for the show’s writers to explore. As of now, we have no idea if they will. We’re talking a bionic arm courtesy of Tony Stark, doing some serious crimefighting of her own, run-ins with Spider-Man, and even a run as one of the main characters in “Fearless Defenders.”
We’ll see exactly what direction they’re going to take with MistyKnight when Marvel’s LUKE CAGE premieres on Netflix tomorrow, Friday, September 29th!
