Apocalypse Now is one of the top films you have to watch before you die.
As one of director’s Francis Ford Coppola’s greatest work, Apocalypse Now won numerous awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Duvall during the 52nd Academy Awards. It is also cataloged as one of the top films by the American Film Institute.
The film has an all-star cast, including Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, Frederic Forrest, Albert Hall, Sam Bottoms, Laurence Fishburne, Dennis Hopper, G.D. Spradlin and Harrison Ford.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Vietnam in 1970, Captain Willard (Sheen) takes a perilous and increasingly hallucinatory journey upriver to find and terminate Colonel Kurtz (Brando), a once-promising officer who has reportedly gone completely mad. In the company of a Navy patrol boat filled with street-smart kids, a surfing-obsessed Air Cavalry officer (Duvall) and a crazed freelance photographer (Hopper), Willard travels further and further into the heart of darkness.
Apocalypse Now Final Cut is being released in select theaters right now that features an upgrade and extra length to this beloved film. The final cut will be available as 4K Ultra HD on August 27.
