In spite of all the crazy fanfare, Apple TV+ does seem to have had a bit of a soft launch for them. Pretty much all of their major scripted shows — The Morning Show, See, For All Mankind, and Dickinson — were given somewhat lukewarm reception, and outside of critic circles, I haven’t seen much buzz about what’s been offered. On the whole, it feels like things have been rather muted.
But that hasn’t stopped Apple from renewing their shows for a second season. The Morning Show was already confirmed for a two-season order from the beginning, but according to THR, all their other main shows were pretty much given the green light months ago, likely to ensure they have enough content to please subscribers.
Have numbers seemingly reflected demand, though? The outlet states that Apple is “thrilled” with the early performance of these four series, and that “millions” of viewers were watching their content as the service launched.
Of course, we don’t actually know the figures Apple is looking at, nor will we ever likely know, but I personally don’t think these shows ever stood a chance at NOT getting renewed. It’d take a lot more effort (and time) for Apple to start shows from scratch, so for the time being, I think they would have done so no matter what — though that’s speculation on my part.
Either way, if you were a fan of their offerings thus far (I personally love The Morning Show so far), then this is all good news. Have you had a chance to check out their programming yet? Let us know down below!
