The idea of a series based on poet Emily Dickinson is actually a pretty smart one. She’s an iconic literary figure and there are plenty of folks out there who’d appreciate it. But when we saw that first trailer it was clear it wasn’t going to be a straight biographical series. It would have a slightly anachronistic slant, featuring more modern language, dancing, and themes.
That first trailer came across as a bit goofy and weird to me, but with this second one, I think they hit a little closer to the mark. Even if it comes across as a bit melodramatic, the stakes and circumstances are a bit more clear and Dickinson herself comes across as a more human character.

In addition to the above, trailer, Apple TV+ has also released the single “Afterlife,” sang by star Hailee Steinfeld herself. The song was used the new trailer.
So, what do you think? Personally, it’d be a show I’d probably watch an episode or two of to decide, but as it stands, it’s not exactly the kind of show that’ll sell huge subscriptions.
