Aqualad Has Been Cast For Season 2 Of DC Universe’s Titans

Many ponder the future of the DC Universe streaming service after it’s treatment of their latest live action series Swamp Thing, which was cancelled after first episode despite great reviews by critics and fans alike and with WarnerMedia planning their own streaming service as well. But one of their other original live action series Titans, which is working on their second season continues to move along with production and with that we have new information about new cast members.

This one is a Teen Titan founding member as first reported by TV Insider, Garth aka Aqualad who will be played by Pretty Little Liars’ alumni Drew Van Acker. This report comes as it had been rumored that Garth would be appearing on the second season of Titans. The casting of Acker was also confirmed by DC Universe which gave us this character description:

“Garth is a founding member of the Titans and was Aquaman’s eager sidekick known as Aqualad. Also born in Atlantis and a member of the royal court, young Garth was trained by Aquaman as a protector of life above and below the ocean. He would eventually step out from the shadow of his mentor to become his own hero as a Titan along with many other former sidekicks.”

Aqualad first appeared in comics in DC Comics’ Adventure Comics #269 in February 1960 and was created by Robert Bernstein and Ramona Fradon. He was the Atlantean sidekick of Aquaman and as mentioned before he was one of the founding members of the Teen Titans along with Robin, Kid Flash and Wonder Girl. The current line up that is featured on the DC Universe features Robin, played by Brenton Thwaites, Starfire, played by Anna Diop, Raven, played by Teagan Croft and Beast Boy, played by Ryan Potter. This group is based on the popular New Teen Titans line-up.
