Aquaman Early Test Screenings Have Taken Place – So What’s The Word?

There seems to be a lot riding on Aquaman, the upcoming Arthur Curry origin story from DC/WB. After a series of box office flops and critical lashings (save Wonder Woman), fans are really looking to see if James Wan’s Aquaman can be the start of the upturn in DC’s fortunes.

The film certainly looks stunning and it also has a uniqueness to it, with so much of it happening underwater. But cool visuals and something unique were both on the side of Batman V Superman, and that didn’t turn out too well for WB. So far all we had to go on was a pretty cool trailer from SDCC 2018 and a TV spot. With the movie not out until December 21 in the US (14th in Europe), that’s about all we would expect at this stage as well.

However, it now seems that as happens with many movies, Aquaman has had some secret test screenings. For those unaware, people who are invited to test screenings are often watching an unfinished film, it won’t be fully edited the way one might expect and it usually will have missing special effects in places. An experienced eye, of course, can look past these factors and hopefully give an honest impression of the movie to the studios. The feedback gained from these helps the filmmakers to refine the edit, tighten things up, abandon whole scenes and perhaps even prompt some reshoots.

So what did those lucky enough to attend think of Aquaman? Check some firsthand and secondhand accounts below.

Whilst none of these sound spectacular, we really don’t need spectacular at this point, we need Aquaman to not to be garbage. A decent MCU phase 1 level movie that works and has a beginning, middle and end with some interesting characters. But that’s of course just my personal opinion and perhaps you view things another way?
