Looks like actor Randall Park is playing for both teams. The Fresh Off the Boat actor has been having a hell of a year. He recently joined the Marvel Studios bandwagon in an Ant-Man and the Wasp role, but that hasn’t stopped him from dipping into the DC Extended Universe in the same year.
Aquaman is currently in the process of going through reshoots, and director James Wan recently took to social media to share a photo with him and Park. Here’s what he had to say:
“So happy and fortunate to be finally working with this man, @parkrandall, on pickups. #DrShin”

Given that this is taking place during reshoots, it looks like the addition of Park is a pretty new development, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the story that constitutes the appearance of a minor character. However, this may not necessarily just be a throwaway character.
Dr. Stephen Shin is a character with history in the Aquaman canon, and has even attempted to kill Arthur Curry. Since he’s just being added in reshoots, I doubt they’d go that far, but it’s kind of cool that they managed to add in a solid actor, just in case the character develops into something bigger down the line.
While we have no idea what the character will be doing in the movie, as a long time Randall Park fan, I figure it’s worth celebrating with a classic comedy sketch from his Magic Hugs days. Enjoy.
Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018.
