For years, the internet has been abuzz with the possibility of Armie Hammer playing a superhero. And not just any superhero: Batman. In fact, the man was set to play the Caped Crusader in the canceled Justice League Mortal film from director George Miller back in the late 2000s.
With Ben Affleck slowly sidling towards the exit in the DC Extended Universe, Hammer is one of those actors many fans keep pointing to. But how does Armie Hammer feel about all this? Does he actually want to play a superhero?
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hammer expressed very little interest in playing a super at this time.
“I’m trying to answer in a way that’s not going to get me into trouble. Alright, f**k it, might as well go for it. I haven’t seen a superhero movie in a long time where I thought, f**k, I wish I was in that.
“For me there’s not like a huge rush. Would I love to own a huge house? Yes, for sure. But at the end of the day I’m more interested now in my artistic credibility.”
That being said, the last thing any actor would want to do is rule anything out. Later in the discussion, he added a disclaimer to his previous comments:
“If a great director came around and said ‘I have this idea’… but at the end of the day, no one’s asked and I’m not going out of my way to do it.”
