Atomic Blonde Sequel In The Works

Last year, John Wick co-director and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch released the action film Atomic Blonde, and in it we got to see the great Charlize Theron as a badass, deadly spy. The $30 million film managed to take in a solid $95.7 million. It wasn’t exactly a runaway hit, but it was clear that the return on investment would likely warrant another go at the premise.

Speaking at the San Francisco International Film Festival, Theron herself confirmed, “We’re working on a sequel.” Unfortunately, there were no other details revealed, and while she will be reprising her role as Lorraine Broughton, we don’t know who the creatives behind it are. Leitch has been busy working on Deadpool , and he was undoubtedly instrumental in making the fight scenes in Atomic Blonde as hard-hitting as they were.

Between films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde, it’s likely that Theron is currently in the “Liam Neeson stage” of her career, where she’ll start buckling down on the action before her body gives out (though it’s not like she’s anywhere near old, so she’s got plenty of time). In all honesty, an Atomic Blonde sequel sounds like just the beginning.
